Vestal Fire District Annual Election Results

The Annual Election of the Vestal Fire District was held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Vestal Fire Department, Station 3, 2164 Owego Road in Vestal.

The results are as follows:

For 5-year Term (January 1, 2026 - December 31, 2030): Daniel Kirchheimer with 166 Votes

For 4-year Term (January 1, 2026 - December 31, 2029): David Harrington with 152 votes

For 3-year Term (January 1, 2026 - December 31, 2028): Keith Purdy with 133 votes

For 2-year Term (January 1, 2026 - December 31, 2027): Thomas McCartney with 129 votes

For 1-year Term (January 1, 2026 - December 31, 2026): Mark Tomko with 123 votes

Robert Hamilton received 94 votes, and Donald Albrecht received 83 votes.

Proposition Number 1 to approve the sale of the 2002 Sutphen MT70 known as Tower 32-1 as surplus with an estimated value in the excess of one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000), passed 194 votes to 6 votes.

Vestal Fire District Annual Election Notice

The Annual Election of the Vestal Fire District will be Tuesday, December 9, 2025, between 6 and 9 p.m. at Station 3, 2164 Owego Road, Vestal.

Listed in alphabetical order and with incumbents noted, the candidates are: Donald Albrecht, Robert Hamilton, David Harrington (I), Daniel Kirchheimer (I), Thomas McCartney (I), Keith Purdy (I), and Mark Tomko (I).

The candidate who receives the most votes will serve a five-year term; the candidate with the second most votes will serve a four-year term; the candidate with the third most votes will serve a three-year term; the candidate with the fourth most votes will serve a two-year term; and the candidate with the fifth most votes will serve a one-year term.

Voters will also be asked to approve the possible sale of Tower 1, a 2002 elevated platform/aerial ladder truck that was recently replaced. Voter approval of this possible sale is needed because the sale price of the truck may exceed $100,000.

To be eligible to vote, residents must be registered with the Broome County Board of Elections on or before November 17, 2025, and must have resided within the Fire District for at least 30 days, on or before November 10, 2025, preceding the election.

No absentee ballots will be accepted for this election.
